Climate and weather
In summer, the south of France can sometimes be hit by heatwaves.
If your customers want to enjoy the hiking and biking trails, summer isn’t the right season, especially as forest areas may be closed due to fire risks.
For a stay in the heart of nature, autumn or spring are the perfect time of year to enjoy the Luberon's natural environment.
If you still want to come and stay in the Luberon in summer and make the most of your stay, adopt the local pace of life: explore local markets early in the morning and enjoy summer evenings. During the day, relaxing by the pool is a great way to escape the heat.
Most of our establishments have air conditioning. However, Provence homes are designed to withstand the summer heat and offer pleasant temperatures inside without the need for air conditioning. Here are a few useful tips: close the shutters during the day.
Getting around and soft transport
Getting around by public transport in the south of France can be complex.
We recommend you plan ahead for transportation solutions, such as hire cars or minibus bookings.
Note that car and bus parks are often subject to a charge, and finding a space can sometimes be a challenge, especially in tourist areas. Planning and organising your travel is essential to avoid this.

Local life
Local life in France and Provence is marked by cultural peculiarities and specific timetables.
Restaurants often follow traditional French opening hours, with the kitchen closed outside normal meal times.
Normal opening hours (with some exceptions): 11.30am-2.00pm and 7.00pm-9.00pm.
Note, too, that it's not uncommon to find establishments closed on Mondays, which can come as a surprise to visitors, requiring a degree of planning to get the most out of your visits.
Stores and visitor sites may also be closed on Mondays and during the lunch break.
Adapting your schedule to local customs will help you make the most of your stay.
Sustainable tourism
The Luberon boasts a special natural environment, twice recognised by UNESCO: the biosphere reserve and Geopark.
We therefore recommend that you encourage your customers to adopt simple actions to limit their impact on the environment.
- Reduce and sort waste: facilities are equipped and responsive
- Save water: take showers, don't leave the water running, keep your bath towel for several days, use natural or organic products.
- Respect natural and sensitive sites.
